i3 President, Gen (Retired) William R. Looney III, Receives Distinguished Graduate Award For 2013

Integration Innovation, Inc. (i3) is pleased to announce that the United States Air Force Academy and the Association of Graduates have awarded i3’s President, General (Retired) William R. Looney III, with the Distinguished Graduate Award for 2013. Each year, this award recognizes two graduates whose singular and distinctive contributions to our society and nation have set them apart from other alumni of the institution. General Looney will receive the Distinguished Graduate Award at a formal presentation during the Air Force Academy Founders Day celebration on April 4, 2014.

The United States Air Force Academy and Association of Graduates commented, “General Looney embodies the core values of our Academy and the USAF—Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in all he does. As a cadet, his leadership abilities were recognized early as he was selected as Cadet Wing Sergeant Major, First Basic Cadet Training Commander, and Cadet Wing Commander, the first cadet to hold all three positions, during his junior and senior years at the Academy.”

In announcing the 2013 Distinguished Graduate Award recipients, the United States Air Force Academy, stated, “The tremendous efforts and accomplishments of Mr. Holaday and General Looney have enhanced the U.S. Air Force Academy, furthered the mission of the Air Force at large, and positively impacted the communities in which they live. Their examples of service and excellence in every endeavor are worthy of emulation and have served to enhance the reputation of the Air Force Academy and its graduates. Both men are truly exceptional representative of the Academy and its vision of "developing leaders of character for the nation."”

i3’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael W. Wicks, said, “It is truly an honor and privilege to work with General Looney. As the President of i3, Bill’s leadership, experience, and enthusiasm have been invaluable to our corporate culture and outstanding growth. He is a true Patriot and this distinguished award reflects great credit upon himself and the US Air Force.”

Kenneth Shannon, i3’s Chief Operating Officer commented, “I am not surprised Bill was selected for this honor. Bill is a great American, who consistently puts others above himself. All of us here at i3 are very proud of Bill and his selection for this distinguished award.”

Looney retired from the United States Air Force in 2008 after 40 years of service. Looney graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1972 and received his Master’s degree from Central Michigan in 1979. Looney is also a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College and National War College.

Looney led the Air Force Academy Cadet Wing as a cadet, commanded a fighter squadron, two fighter wings, an academic institution, a warfare center, a numbered air force, two acquisition centers, and a major command while rising to the highest rank in the military. The organizations he led covered every facet of Air Force activity including operations, training, education, and acquisitions involving as many as 100,000 people. A career fighter pilot, Looney flew 65 combat missions and is a command pilot with over 4000 flying hours in numerous aircraft.
